چکیده
The phenomenon of toppling deformation and failure is common in slopes with anti-dip structures, especially soft metamorphic rock slopes. This paper aims to explore the instability mechanism layered landslides. Taking slope a mining area southern Qinling Mountains China as geological prototype, large-scale centrifuge model test numerical simulation based on combined finite discrete element method (FDEM) were performed. process, mode, path under rainfall excavation conditions simulated. results show that both physical new can simulate process slopes, phenomena simulated by two methods are also very close. Rainfall mainly weakens mechanical properties rock, while at toe changes stress field distribution provides space for deformation, which accelerate slope. an be described follows: bending layer–tensile fracture along layer–flexural cracking perpendicular layer–extension penetration tensile surface–sliding

Influence of modeling material on undercut slope failure mechanism
A series of physical modeling tests were conducted by means of a beam type geotechnical centrifuge machine in order to investigate the drainage impact on the slope failure mechanism under centrifugal acceleration. Meanwhile, the phenomenon of stress redistribution in undercut slopes and the formation of arching effect were studied. For this purpose, a poorly graded sandy soil (Silica sand No. 6...

Analyze the static simulation of the dam by using the strength reduction principle, get the stress, strain and displacement distribution rule and the corresponding safety factor in the water level change and rainfall infiltration are two working conditions of the reservoir’s retaining dam body respectively, get the displacement of the slip plane when the unstable failure happens on the dam, the...
متن کاملSlope Failure of Embankment Dam under Extreme Flooding Conditions: Comparison of Limit Equilibrium and Continuum Models
During the spring of 2003, the downstream slope of an embankment dam began to move during an extreme flooding event. The current study was implemented to evaluate the slope stability of the embankment and as a case-study to compare the limit equilibrium and continuum modeling methods. Initially, stability analyses were performed using conservative shear strength of soils estimated from both bor...
متن کاملFailure Behavior and Constitutive Model of Weakly Consolidated Soft Rock
Mining areas in western China are mainly located in soft rock strata with poor bearing capacity. In order to make the deformation failure mechanism and strength behavior of weakly consolidated soft mudstone and coal rock hosted in Ili No. 4 mine of Xinjiang area clear, some uniaxial and triaxial compression tests were carried out according to the samples of rocks gathered in the studied area, r...
متن کاملSlope Stability Analysis Under Combined Failure Criteria
Strength reduction finite element method (SRFEM) has been widely used to analyze the slope stability. Strength Reduction Factor (SRF) is yielded as the slope Factor Of Safety (FOS) when a running-though shear failure zone comes into being, in which the Plastic Element EQuivalent strain (PEEQ) is employed as the judgment of shear failure initiation in this paper. Moreover, the filed variable is ...
